We strongly recommend that all students read at least one book over the summer. Students whose language skills are weak and/or students who are aiming for honors or AP level courses should read at least 3-5 books. We also recommend that students choose books that they enjoy and that are neither too easy nor too difficult. A good way to gauge difficulty is to skim a few pages; one to five unknown words per page is a good rule of thumb.

The lists below are general reading lists for students of any grade and any level, including books for incoming freshmen. Students enrolled in AP courses have specific summer work; those assignments have been sent to them.

We look forward to seeing you in August, invigorated by your holiday adventures and by the reading you have completed.

"Let your bookcases and your shelves be your gardens and your pleasure-grounds. Pluck the fruit that grows therein, gather the roses, the spices, and the myrrh."

~Judah Ibn Tibbon
